ScreenManager with AI Camera

Installation guide

This document describes how to install, set up, and use the AI camera for audience analytics and dynamic content control via the ScreenManager platform.

1) Connecting the Camera

The AI camera can be connected in two different ways:

1.1) USB-C Cable

  • Connect the camera to power a device using a USB-C cable.
  • The camera will automatically boot and initialize the system.

1.2.1) Ethernet (Recommended)

  • Connect the camera to your local network using an Ethernet cable.
  • The IP address is assigned automatically via DHCP.

1.2.2) Wi-Fi

  • The camera connects to a Wi-Fi network using the following default credentials:
    • SSID: screenmanager
    • Password: screenmanager
  • Once connected, the device becomes accessible in the local network.

2) Finding the Local IP Address

You can obtain the local IP address of the camera in two ways:

2.1) Via Technical Support or Network Administrator

  • Contact ScreenManager Support or your IT administrator.
  • They will provide you with the local IP address assigned to the camera (e.g. 192.168.1.120).

2.2) Via micro HDMI Output

  • Connect a display to the camera using a micro HDMI cable.
  • After startup, the display will show diagnostic information, including:
    • Local IP address
    • Network status (Wi-Fi / Ethernet)
    • Cloud connectivity status
  • Note down the IP address for web access.

3) Analytics Data Transmission

  • Once the camera detects an internet connection, it automatically starts sending analytical data (people counts, demographics, movement patterns, etc.) to the ScreenManager Cloud.
  • Data is transferred in real time with a short delay (up to 15 minutes).
  • No manual configuration is required.

4) Pairing the AI Camera with a display / player

To link the camera with a specific display and enable dynamic content control:

Open a web browser and go to: http://<camera_IP_address>:5000/actual

  1. (Example: http://192.168.1.120:5000/actual)
  2. This REST endpoint provides the current camera status and identification.
  3. In the ScreenManager CMS, pair this camera with the corresponding display using its IP address.

5) Live Stream Preview

To check the camera’s view, framing, and focus:

Open in your browser: http://<camera_IP_address>:5000/mjpeg

  1. (Example: http://192.168.1.120:5000/mjpeg)
  2. A live MJPEG stream from the camera will appear.
  3. This preview is useful for adjusting the camera’s position and field of view.

6) Downloading Detection Data (CSV)

To access the daily AI detection results:

Open or download the CSV file from: http://<camera_IP_address>:5000/history

  1. (Example: http://192.168.1.120:5000/history)
  2. The camera provides a CSV file containing all detections for the current day.
  3. The file is automatically cleared at midnight, and a new log starts each day.

7) Changing the Wi-Fi Network

If you need to connect the camera to a different Wi-Fi network:

  • Contact ScreenManager Support and provide:
    • New Wi-Fi SSID
    • Wi-Fi password
  • Support will remotely update the network configuration on your device.
  • After rebooting, the camera will automatically connect to the new network.

Operating Recommendations

  • Use Ethernet for the most stable data connection.
  • Ensure constant internet access for real-time analytics updates.
